With great sadness we announce that on the 13th of January 2018 , our colleague and member in European Academy of Rehabilitation Medicine  since 1985, Prof Alex Chantraine passed away.

He has been nominated as first Professor of PRM in Europe on 1970. From 1973-1997 he has served as Professor and head of the PRM department at the University of Geneva, Faculty of Medicine.

He was one of the pioneers of the European Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine, and he has dedicated most of his life to the scientific advancement and quality of PRM discipline in Europe, acting as President of the UEMS section of PRM from 1994 to 1998 and later, as President of the European Board of PRM from 1998 to 2000.

Moreover, he has been elected as President of AFIGAP (Association Francophone Internationale de Groupe d’Animation de la Paraplégie) from 1990 till 1994, as well as General Secretary of EARM from 1994 till 2006.

We will always remember his clever spirit, (both as scientist and as researcher) and his kind attitude. We will miss him a lot in EARM, but his spirit will always remain with us.

May he rest in peace.

On behalf of all Academicians, we have expressed our condolences to his family members.
